I received an email with a link to the trailer of this film. It was inspiring and the concept is very different then anything else I've ever seen. I'm a fan of Derrick Hynd as well with his finless experiments. I haven't seen it yet but if someone has please comment. Enjoy.

Chilean Fins by Geree McDermott

Here are some great fins I just got. They came from Pichilemu, Chile. Here is the email that came with them. Geree is an American living in Chile. She is very talented. I checked out her work on her sites. Enjoy.HI there-
I just found your site last night and finished 3 fin designs today. (I tried to use your submit entries link but it didn't come through so I am attaching them here.)
I live in Pichilemu, Chile which is touted for being the Surf Capital of South America. Have you heard of it? I moved here from New Mexico, but before that I lived in Solana Beach for over 10 years. Love the beach!
I have skateboard designs on www.Zazzle.com/GereesGallery and when I saw your fin design project, I felt compelled to draw a few designs.
Hope they all make it on your site,
Geree

Beacons In Spring
Those of you with kids that surf know that somewhere in the back of your mind you hope that your child or children will love to surf as much as you do. At that moment I felt a certain sense of satisfaction that no matter if Alia surfs or not, she will always love the beach.

Erik's New Love a 5'10" Twin Keel by Kipp Denslow

Erik waxed her up all pretty and stuck his stickers on her.

Yep, he made it.

Pulled it.
Kipp dropped off this board last week for Erik to test ride. It was the 5'10" chocolate, lime green and white twin keel he made and brought to the AB3 Fish Fry. Erik rides a lot of boards but instantly took to her. So much so that Kipp will never get this board back. It has earned a spot in his permanent collection.
For a week I kept hearing stories of Erik killing it on this board. Lauren was cool enough to take some shots to show us.
Kipp waited a week and then called to see how he liked it. He was sort of quiet when he called and was worried that the test went bad because he hadn't heard from Erik. Turns out that Erik was too busy riding this thing. Rumor has it that he brought the board in to his room like a little grom. With that said I offered some business advise to Kipp. Raise the price.

Living the Dream

.jpg)

Some of us dream about places like these and others actually charge
out there and live it. My friend John is the guy who actually lives
the dream. For the last 20 years he has been spending at least a month
a year surfing all over Indonesia. He somehow ended up with the
perfect life to do this... He grew up here in Encinitas surfing every
day and became an airline pilot which allowed him to get to Indo for
free. Over the years he has made friends with a bunch of Australian
bros... Here are a few shots from one of his trips.
Enjoy. David

Vans Trash Art Submission by Rodney McCoubrey

Rodney sent me his entry for the monthly Vans trash art contest. The winner gets a pair of shoes. Below is how he made it. It blows me away at what he can make out of what people throw away. My favorite shot is of the eye. It is crazy how it really has a soul. Great work Rodney.
For the kids out there that want to try this to win some shoes and save trash from the land fill, go here for entry and details. Parents out there that would like there schools to do a similar art program, contact Rodney about setting up a day for him to do a work shop with the kids.
Step 1: Collect the trash.

Step 2: Cut out the template.

Amazing Fins

David sent me these fins a while back from a random house visit of long time local and fin enthusiast John Peugh (Spl?). David was doing some work one day in his neighborhood and he got invited in to take a look. He was lucky enough to have his iPhone with him to grab some shots. If anyone wants one of his fins contact David for details.

A Little Performance

I tend to gravitate to the soul surfing shots David sends in of the smaller days with the hand dragging and the back lit wave. I like the guys who take their time getting down the line. I guess I see my own ability in them and naturally enjoy the mood of it. With that said I can still appreciate a little performance surfing. Here are some shots that David sent in of a few weeks back. Only one I recognize is TK. All are killing it.
