Photography by Kevin Roche

Kevin Roche is an amazing photographer. I had the pleasure of meeting him at Sacred Craft in Santa Cruz. The funny thing was I have seen his images everywhere and didn't put it together that he was the man behind some of my favorite images. If you get a chance stop by his blog for some eyeball ecstasy. If you love images, especially surf images, you'll love his site. *Enjoy

I Love This Shot

Our friends over at the Murphy blog have been scoring some amazing photos of their team rider JP Marengo. JP is a La Jolla local who is a huge fan of big solid left barrels. Go check out their blog if you don't usually.

This photo landed in my inbox and I was blown away. I mean seriously does it get any better hen this?  Such a classic shot by Doug Wylie. I love the contrast of the glassy water sucking off the reef about a foot away from his board and the wave as it breaks violently behind him. Looking at it you can feel the tension between the two. Unbelievable detail and perfect timing. Well done Doug and JP always stoked to see your tubes!

Brazilian Photographer- Rafael Fazano's - Soul Surfers Series

Go check out Leucadia Project fan and Brazilian photographer Rafael Fazano's website. He has a cool series going on called Soul Surfers. Always fun to see the similarities and differences in the perspectives of  photographers from other countries. Nice work Rafael!

Sunsets

I love promoting the work of others but is it even sweeter when they are from your own family. Here are a few shots from my Dad and local San Diego photographer, RM Lewis. I love his work. Beauty in everything he shoots. Well done pops. Enjoy.

(Taken at Future of Surfing Fair,
Solana Beach Cove, CA, September 25, 2010)

My dad shot this yesterday of an unknown kid at the Future of Surfing event. It is such a classic photo. Blow it up, you can see his tongue sticking out and how focused he is. This kid IS the future. I love it.

(Note: If you are the parents and would like a free print let me know and I'll connect you with my dad.)

Da Birds

99.9% of the time David shoots waves. Usually really big and barreling waves.  Every now and then he takes a shot of the other stuff that happens at the beach, like this flock of pigeons he took while we were shooting down in La Jolla on a huge swell. There is something that is mesmerizing about this photo. Enjoy.
