RAPANUI Fin

Our friend Joe Rolle over at Rapanui Clothing sent in this fin. Rapanui is a really unique clothing company out of Wight England in that takes eco clothing/fashion to a whole new level by tracking and displaying where their garments are made and travel. Doing this gives a level of transparency to their product line and brings awareness to the issues of ecology and garment production.

Take a look at their video on why they started Rapanui. It was inspiring to me. I was fascinated by the numbers that 80% of the environmental impact of clothing happens post purchase. I was also fascinated on why they are choosing to do what they do.

I was really excited when Joe contacted us to want to be involved in The Leucada Project, as these guys are award winning eco entrepreneurs. We hope to do more with them in the future and will support them in any way we can.

Great job guys your doing great!

Vanity Fin

Kipp sent in this photo the other day. He had a huge bathroom mirror just give way and crash to the ground. Luckily no one was in the bathroom at the time.

In the middle of cleaning up he finds this piece of mirror. Any other person would have through it right away. Only a surfer would find fascination in it so much they felt compelled to photo it and share it with their friends. Who, being surfers themselves, all said "wow! that looks like a sweet single fin!"

Rainbow Keels - By Shawd DeWitt

Alright, these are the coolest keels I've ever seen. These are real LokBox fins made from fiberglass, resin and resin tint. Shawd DeWitt from Rainbow Fins just sent them in. I was seriously blown away. I love the colors and the looseness of the color flow. I don't know about you but I want a set. Enjoy.

However I would have been really impressed if she had saved me a slice! It looks so good. Hummm... pizza in the form of a fin. Does it get any better? Goda di! (Enjoy)

Tak Fin

Here is a really cool fin from the same folks that made the Encinitas Environmental Day Poster. The artist's name is Seitaku "Tak" Aoyama and he and Jaime Di Dio Aoyama are a husband and wife design team here in Encinitas. Through this style, Tak depicts various elements of nature. This fin was inspired by various aspects of life in Leucadia. Their studio is called Studio Aiuto. Check out their website here. Tak and Jamie are an amazing team and produce some incredible work. I have yet to tour their studio but hope to get an invite soon. Enjoy.

Black Line Fin by Local Artist Steve Burrows

I love how the fins keep coming in. Here is a cool Fin sent in by local artist and surfer Steve Burrows. He and his wife Rose live over by Stone Steps and surf there a lot. I really like his line art style. He does a lot of VW art as well which hits a soft spot.  Growing up I had a 69 bug that was my wheels to the beach. Oh the memories of driving home after a winter session with no heater! Good times.  Checkout his site here. Enjoy.

Chilean Fins by Geree McDermott

Here are some great fins I just got. They came from Pichilemu, Chile.  Here is the email that came with  them. Geree is an American living in Chile. She is very talented. I checked out her work on her sites.   Enjoy.

HI there-
I just found your site last night and finished 3 fin designs today. (I tried to use your submit entries link but it didn't come through so I am attaching them here.)

I live in Pichilemu, Chile which is touted for being the Surf Capital of South America. Have you heard of it? I moved here from New Mexico, but before that I lived in Solana Beach for over 10 years. Love the beach!

I have skateboard designs on www.Zazzle.com/GereesGallery and when I saw your fin design project, I felt compelled to draw a few designs.

Hope they all make it on your site,
Geree

Happy Fins by Bereket, 5 1/2 and Genet, 3 1/2

Bereket, 5 1/2
Genet, 3 1/2

Here are a couple of fins sent in by proud father and back yard shaper Kipp Denslow.  I met Kipp's wife at a meditation class. After the class we started talking surf and she mentioned that her husband shapes fish boards.  Naturally I was intrigued so I urged her to have Kipp send in some shots.  Turns out he makes some amazing boards.  My favorite is the 50/50 blue and brown board.  Love the color scheme.

The fins are great. They put a smile on my face when I opened my email.  Enjoy.

That Ol' Pan Speed Dialer Fins By Kirk

Here are some fins Kirk sent in. He worked on it on and off for weeks and then sat on the final product. Anne like a good wife took up the lead and shot the photos.

The front fin is particle wood, left over resin from a dig repair and abalone from a trip to Nor Cal.  The back fin is particle board and beer bottle caps from his favorite beers. Both fins are mounted to an old recycled tin.

Really cool fins Kirk, thanks for sending them in!

Pinwheel Fins by Lukas - 5 and Ajia- 2

More fins were sent in by proud father and Avo lover, Jason Werbelow. Apparently the two loved coloring the fins so much that when finished they insisted that he put them up in their bedroom. Pretty cool.

Thanks Jason for sending them in!
