I was playing around again with my fin tees and came up with this one. I little bamboo ghost job. It is definitely one of my favorites. Enjoy.
Our friend Mick Waters emailed us last week to let us know that his wife Sue gave birth to their son Sunny two weeks early, after only 20 minutes of labor and in their BATHTUB at 4:28 am. The birth was a surprise and completely unassisted. Mick, Sue and Sunny shared their moment while his two young daughters listen from the bedroom. As a dad I am so happy for Mick that he has his son. As a dad who had a whole hospital behind him when his daughter was born, I am blown away at what the two of them went through in that bathroom.

This weekend is the Rob Machado Surf Experience & Cardiff Green Expo down at seaside reef. Jamie and her husband Tak from Studio Aiuto did the poster and tee shirt. It's going to be a fun kid-friendly weekend at Seaside with lots of green vendors, entertainment, kids surf contest, King & Queen of the Reef Triathlon... and more. Enjoy.
Sometimes you go to your door and find something you just didn't expect to see. The other day there was this D Fin Clock laying on my door mate with a note attached. Turns out my friends Mary and Paul got this clock at the Longboard Grotto about 15 years ago. It broke and then sat in a closet all this time. While cleaning things out she felt that I would appreciate it so she passed it on to me. All I can say is that it has been getting some attention around here. THANK YOU GUYS FOR THINKING OF ME!!!! It is very cool and I will find a nice spot to show it off.
Beacon's will be the focal point of another beach clean up. Parents drop your kids off as they can get community service points for school. Parents, stay and show your kids you care and make a good example. Check out the website here. www.cleanupday.org
Here's a nice little shot of our pen pal Mick taking a nice line backside somewhere in Oz. Enjoy.

The lovely Cheryl Sorg has been working away on her new show for months now. It is finally done and the work is amazing! How does she find the time to cut every word out??? If you saw her show at the Encinitas library or the Long Beach Museum of Art and loved it, you are in luck, there is all new pieces to drool over. Eric always puts on a great bash and is keeping true to the promise of supporting local artists. Way to go Eric! I look forward to seeing everyone there.

My friend Mick has been at it again shooting for his new film Little Black Wheels. He knows I have been jonesing to see it so he sent me some recent stills from the Rasta section. Oh my, I thought this would hold me over but I want to see the video even more now. Enjoy.
My friend Pepa is a designer who is originally from Australia. She moved to Leucadia 5 or 6 years ago. She has since moved on from our neighborhood but she continues to inspire us all. When she was living here she was one of the most talented designers I've ever known. She's worked for a lot of big names. We were super stoked that she just landed her first shoe design with Osiris. The style is the South Bronx/Artist Series/Pepa. You can find them here. Way to go Pepa!!!
Rochelle will be having an event at the new Bergamot Spa in Leucadia. They will be featuring her Yoga DVD Surf Into Yoga, having a Yoga class, live music, food and drinks. It will be a fun time.

Erik came over with his new board, a 5'10" custom painted Roy Sanchez Keel Fish. The board was painted by Erik and his lovely Girlfriend Lauren. The two have been waiting for this board to get back for a while now and are super stoked to get her in the water.

This week I met up with Murphy to get the Grain signed before it gets glassed. Dennis looked it over and checked out my fine sanding and gave it his stamp of approval. He was also able to get rid of a ding I put in it. Thank you Dennis! All and and all she is a beauty. Next post will be the glass job.

These photos and email came in from Kipp today. He was super stoked to try making his own fin. Turned out cool and if you are in a pinch for cash and need a fin he has proven you can do it yourself. Thanks for sharing Kipp. I love the whole idea.
